We found out we were pregnant with baby #3 in early November. My birthday is near the end of November, and my husband surprised me with the PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow!
With my first two pregnancies, I never bought a pregnancy pillow for sleeping. This wasn’t because I was sleeping great– on the contrary, I have always slept terribly during pregnancy. We were just working to pay off student loans during those pregnancies, and I tended to be a minimalist on things I wasn’t going to get long term use out of. I just grabbed the spare pillows off the guest bed and shoved them between my knees and called it good.
Two kids (one of which still doesn’t sleep well), my own issues with insomnia, and plenty of exhaustion later, I told my husband I wanted to treat myself to a pregnancy pillow this time. It was a fun present to receive, and I used it right away that first night!
Features of the Pharmedoc Pregnancy Pillow
My husband and I are very different shoppers. Both of us are huge researchers before we shop, but I tend to settle on the cheapest thing that gets the job done within reason. I don’t buy junk (or don’t try to, anyway), so that is why I say “within reason.” What I select isn’t always the bottom price, but it tends to be the most reasonably priced item that will do what I need it to do.
My husband tends to be like, “No, if we are going to buy it, we have to buy the right one!” So he does lots of research, and price doesn’t matter much to him.
He settled on the PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow in the detachable size because of the following features:
- It has a cooling cover, and I often complain about getting hot at night. (Not all of the PharMeDoc pillows have a cooling cover, so if you want that feature, you have to make sure to select that option)
- It’s shape almost comes full-circle, which gives you options for rolling back and forth between sides.
- You can unzip one of the sides from the pillow if you prefer more of a “C” shape, or if it feels too bulky in your bed (this is the “detachable” option–if you don’t need that option and just want it as one piece (solid body), you can get the pillow even cheaper)
- Support for back, hips, legs, and belly all at once
- Cover is machine washable
- Lifetime manufacturer warranty
My Experience with the Pillow
I started using this pillow right away when I received it. I was only about 6 weeks pregnant at the time, so support isn’t something I truly needed yet. However, my sleep improved almost instantly.
I LOVED the cocoon feeling of the pillow. I loved that I could lean toward any direction in the bed and have support. This isn’t a pillow that only pregnant women would appreciate–anyone who likes some support would benefit.
Even when I’m not pregnant, I tend to put a pillow between my legs because it feels more comfortable to me. I love that I don’t need to do that, and if I roll to different sides, I don’t need to resituate myself or my knee pillow! I am certain I will continue to use this even after pregnancy.
My kids also adore it. They compete for who gets to sit in it when watching TV in my bedroom. Sometimes I have to kick them out to get it back for myself! 😉
Pros & Cons
Here are what I would consider the pros and cons of the PharMeDoc Pregnancy Pillow to be based on my experience with it:
Pros:
- Gives support from all angles
- Don’t need to flip or resituate the pillow if you roll to a different side in the night
- The cooling cover feels awesome on my legs (which tend to overheat easily)
- I can detach one side of the pillow if I want it less bulky in my bed, or would just like to cuddle with my husband
- Washable cover
- Will get much more than 9 months of use out of it
- Reasonable Price – Not too expensive for all of the awesome features
Cons:
- Sometimes if I rub my face on the cooling cover too much, it feels a little irritating. I fixed that by putting a soft pillowcase on the top of the pillow
- There are cheaper pillows available
- If you want a really fluffy & firm pillow, you may want a different one. I don’t like very thick ones because it is too hard on my neck to get pushed up so far. I know we all have different needs in a pillow.
- Hard to find out the exact materials this pillow is made from.
Lifetime Manufacturer Warranty
This pillow has a 100{9994046f29331ee04cc0b5e07eb28364315ea03ccc2f01b5a43e8b85b372d1e9} satisfaction guarantee & a lifetime manufactuer warranty! However, it is a limited warranty, which means you can’t get your money back if you decide to use your pregnancy pillow as a pool floatie or something, and then expect a replacement if that gets damaged.
If under normal use something breaks, like the zipper or the material rips, you can take advantage of the warranty.
Better Sleep is Available Today!

I absolutely love not having to have 4 different pillows in the bed just to accommodate all of my support issues like I did with my last pregnancies. It’s totally worth it to splurge on something like a quality pregnancy pillow. Sleep is precious in pregnancy– I wish I had gotten this pillow with my other children. But at least I have it now. 😉
What do you think of the PharMeDoc pregnancy pillow? Would you give it a try? Let me know in the comments!
Thank you so much for the awesome post! This is something that my wife needs for her pregnancy, as she has a lot of trouble sleeping due to it. This pillow looks like it is top quality, and worth every penny, and it would be a good gift for her for Valentine’s day, which will be here in less than a month!
I agree–it makes a great gift!
Hi Holly, let me start by letting you know how informative your review of the pharmedoc pregnancy pillow is. Prior to coming across this article, I heard of a pillow women use during pregnancy to support them when they sleep. At the time, I couldn’t really wrap my head around the idea, but it makes a whole lot of sense now. At the very least, I can fathom why this would be ideal for pregnant women to be able to find comfort when they sleep.
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
I wish my wife would have had this pillow when we had the first baby!
She couldn’t find the right position to sleep, poor thing …
I showed this product to my wife and what she liked most is the possibility of detach a part.
I also don’t understand very well how cooling parts work. Do you have to plug it in?
Thanks for the review!
Pablo
Hi Pablo! The cooling cover is really just a material that doesn’t absorb heat from your body. On it’s own, it doesn’t make you cool, but it just feels nice on the skin because it doesn’t heat up. Nothing to plug in!
Hi Holly
Let me start by firstly congratulate you on pregnancy number 3 and hope that the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly. When you are doing a review you hope for it to be honest and truthful. It is good that you have personally tried and tested this product. What I always say you never know if it is good for you unless you have tried it for yourself. I really like this review as it will give my wife all the necessary information to make a decision if it is suitable or not. Alas, her childbearing days have long gone, but I think my children will find it useful once their wives become pregnant.
I must say the pillow looks oddly shaped but as long as it does it job. Your husband is very considerate. Does the pillow offer any back support, especially if you suffer from back pain due to pregnancy?
Thanks
Antonio
Yes! It offers support for neck, legs, & back.
Your article is very important for a pregnant woman. I know many pregnant women are unable to sleep at night. I think something like this would have helped my wife. She feels hot at night and maybe she needs a cool cover PharMeDoc. I want to get on for her. I thank you for sharing this useful thing with us.
Thank you! Hope she likes it.
