About a month ago, I wrote a Force of Nature cleaner review. It still remains one of my favorite cleaning gadgets, and I’d love to expand more on my favorite uses for Force of Nature. I truly believe it is one of the best ways to keep my house safe, clean, and healthy.

Force of Nature is a small appliance that creates electrolyzed water (hypochlorous acid) using just water, salt, and vinegar. It is a gentle cleaning solution that is 100{9994046f29331ee04cc0b5e07eb28364315ea03ccc2f01b5a43e8b85b372d1e9} safe to be used by and around your children & pets. Even though it’s gentle and safe, it’s incredibly tough on germs. It cleans over 99{9994046f29331ee04cc0b5e07eb28364315ea03ccc2f01b5a43e8b85b372d1e9} of bacteria and other germs from surfaces.

It’s pretty impressive, and while hypochlorous acid has been used in industrial spaces for years, we haven’t had a great way to make it at home (it only lasts about 2 weeks until it loses potency, so making it to sell in stores is near impossible. Making small frequent batches is important) until recently. The Force of Nature cleaning appliance is incredible!

While I expected Force of Nature to clean up tough messes, I didn’t expect it to solve a number of issues that I had been tolerating with no clear solution for several months. It has been an amazing discovery and I’m so glad I pulled the plug to purchase it.

Without further ado, here are my top 6 favorite uses for Force of Nature so far:

1. Removing Instant Pot Sealing Ringing Smell

instant-pot-sealing-ring-smellIf you have an instant pot, you are probably well aware that the silicone sealing ring on the lid can easily absorb odors from various dishes. Mine loves to hold on to the chili smell, which isn’t pleasant when I am trying to make yogurt or another sweeter dish.

I tried out my Force of Nature on the sealing ring and was amazed at how well it killed off lingering odors. I will say it wasn’t 100{9994046f29331ee04cc0b5e07eb28364315ea03ccc2f01b5a43e8b85b372d1e9}, but it did eliminate it about 90{9994046f29331ee04cc0b5e07eb28364315ea03ccc2f01b5a43e8b85b372d1e9}. MUCH better than what I had been able to get previously with just washing with soap and water, soaking, etc.

I am also speculating that if I soaked the sealing ring in the Force of Nature solution that it might completely disappear. I am a bit stingy with my solution, so I haven’t tried soaking it yet since that would require more. All I did to remove about 90{9994046f29331ee04cc0b5e07eb28364315ea03ccc2f01b5a43e8b85b372d1e9} of the smell was spray it on, let it sit a minute, and wipe it off (I did this twice). I also sprayed some in the inner part and spun the ring a bit to let the solution roll through the inner part of the ring.

All in all, I’m thrilled that this is really deep cleaning the odor out of the sealing ring for me!

2. Disinfecting and Deodorizing Diaper Pail

force-of-nature-cleaner-on-diaper-pailsDisinfecting and deodorizing my diaper pail has never been so easy! Before I got Force of Nature, this was a job I definitely didn’t do as often as I should have. When I did do it, I would fill it partway with water and add about 1/4 cup bleach and let it soak.

I absolutely love that Force of Nature takes the hassle out of this chore. No more bleach, no more soaking… I just spray the solution all over the inside, let it sit for a minute or so, then wipe it out and it’s ready to be used again almost immediately. It completely eliminated any lingering odors and I know it’s perfectly clean. No strong cleaning odors filling the air, either.

It doesn’t matter if you have a pail for cloth diapers or disposables–Force of Nature will clean up any odors or germs!

3. Cleaning Up Raw Meat Juices

force-of-nature-cleaner-raw-meat-juiceFor general day-to-day cleanliness, I often just wipe my counters down with my microfiber cloths and water. But when I’ve been handling raw meat, I always spray the area down with my Force of Nature afterwards. Force of Nature kills over 99{9994046f29331ee04cc0b5e07eb28364315ea03ccc2f01b5a43e8b85b372d1e9} of germs, and raw meat juices can be full of them.

Listeria, E. Coli, Salmonella…these are just some of the pathogens that can be present in raw meat juices. Cleaning up properly after meat juice is incredibly important.

Not only do I use Force of Nature on the counter after prepping meat to cook, but if the package of meat was sitting in the refrigerator to thaw, I will often wipe down that shelf in the fridge with it, too.

I’ll also spray it inside my reusable shopping bags after bringing home groceries in case any of the juices leaked out. I always try to put meats in a bag that has an inner layer that is wipeable, and that makes this easy.

4. Cleaning Mold off of Window Frames

force-of-nature-cleaner-on-moldFor some odd reason, my house gets a little too humid in the winter. I live in Minnesota where the air is cold and dry, but somehow my indoor humidity is just a tad on the high side and I’ve yet to figure out why. If your humidity is above 40{9994046f29331ee04cc0b5e07eb28364315ea03ccc2f01b5a43e8b85b372d1e9} in your home, you can get condensation on your windows which can lead to mold growth. Humidity in the 40s can be tricky to notice because it doesn’t have the heavy feel or the damp smell that humidity over 50{9994046f29331ee04cc0b5e07eb28364315ea03ccc2f01b5a43e8b85b372d1e9} can bring, but it can still do some damage.

Our windows were very wet and our Google Nest had our indoor humidity pegged at 46{9994046f29331ee04cc0b5e07eb28364315ea03ccc2f01b5a43e8b85b372d1e9}. We would wipe it down, but the condensation would be back pretty quickly.

Step one to cleaning the mold off the window frames was to get a dehumidifier. Thankfully my parents had one we could use.

The next step was to make sure we were doing what we could to keep excess moisture at bay, such as always running the exhaust fans in the kitchen and bathrooms.

Once we got the moisture under control (we now are able to hold steady at 38-39{9994046f29331ee04cc0b5e07eb28364315ea03ccc2f01b5a43e8b85b372d1e9} humidity), we were able to tackle the mold.

I sprayed Force of Nature liberally along the parts of the window frames covered in mold and allowed it to sit for about a minute to make sure the spores were killed. Then I wiped it off best I could.

Force of Nature does not whiten the way bleach does, but that was ideal for my window frames because they are wooden, not vinyl, so bleaching them would damage the color. The wood was starting to soften, so I color-matched a wood filler and filled it in where needed. Now we just need to keep it dry in here, and we should be good to go. (Just noting that Force of Nature did not restore the color–that was my wood filler. But it killed the mold and it keeps it from coming back as long as you keep the moisture at bay!)

5. Gently Working Out Set-In Stains

force-of-nature-cleaner-on-diapersAnother thing I love to do with my Force of Nature cleaner is work on set-in stains. It can remove stains from clothing or other materials without bleaching it out, making it good to use on colored fabrics. I was able to remove some old mold stains from a diaper shell with it. It also helped lift some old carpet stains!

I took my Force of Nature and saturated the stain with it, let it sit for a minute, then I worked on scrubbing it out. For the most stubborn stains, I had to do it two to three times, but I imagine if I had soaked it in Force of Nature I wouldn’t have needed to do that.

6. Deodorizing the Litter Box & Taming Dog Smells

force-of-nature-pet-odorsWe recently got a little kitty, and I love using my Force of Nature to deodorize and clean around the litter box. Force of Nature makes it so easy to keep it clean and smelling fresh. I love knowing that it’s perfectly safe to use around my pets.

It is also great for spraying down and deodorizing my dog’s kennel and bed, too. I’m kind of obsessed with spraying this stuff on anything that smells remotely bad. I love that the scent it has is so mild and fades after a minute or two. It’s not overwhelming or overpowering like Febreeze or other similar deodorizers, and there is nothing synthetic about it. Here is some more information about fragrances and why we should avoid them.

Force of Nature Made A HUGE Difference

The Force of Nature cleaner made a huge difference in our home. Taking the hassle and worry out of cleaning is a huge blessing for every parent. No longer do I have to worry about harsh cleaners being used around my kids. I also don’t need to worry about cleaners accidentally being left out where they can get a hold of them and possibly ingest some or get some in their eye (is it just my son that always angles the sprayer on the bottle toward his face before he pulls the trigger?)

I no longer need to worry about if particular cleaners are safe on the surface I want to use them on–Force of Nature can be used on any surface! It has really helped us simplify our home and make it as safe as possible.
